Strawberry Delight

I have been beyond excited to share my latest discovery…Glamour Bunny! Based in the UK, Gerry Roxby is the woman behind the brand since 2009. Glamour Bunny is rapidly gaining popularity all over the world with celebrities like Dita Von Teese being photographed in several of her creations. Designed with the classic elegance of the 50’s for women with curves!

With several items on my wishlist, the Strawberry Cream Dress was an instant delight!

Available in XS to XL – MSRP £80.00/$99USD

Trying new brands of clothing is always a gamble when it comes to sizing. I noticed the Glamour Bunny size chart seemed to be more generous in the hip area compared to most vintage inspired clothing. This definitely pleased me since my hourglass figure seems to always put me in between sizes. I went with a Medium in the Strawberry Cream dress as my bust(36) and waist(29) fit exactly to the chart measurements. Success! The Medium fit like a glove and requires no alterations which is a huge bonus.

The Strawberry Cream dress features a delicate sweetheart neckline, detachable halter straps and swing skirt. A hot detail is definitely the hidden pockets, they are such a great perk. Made from a high quality soft cotton…ideal for those hot summer months. The bust features plastic boning for extra structure for a perfect bust enhancing look. They did not miss any details in this dress! I must also highlight that the quality of Glamour Bunny products is incredible, definitely worth every penny.

Be prepared to receive many compliments while wearing your Glamour Bunny dresses, you will be turning heads every time! Pair the Strawberry Cream dress with a pair of pumps, kitten heels or ballet flats…versatile for any occasion. The length was perfect, no petticoat required.

One word of caution, do not use the steam setting on your iron as I found there was some very slight color transfer from the red onto the beige bust area (which I was able to safely remove). Follow the wash instructions very carefully and do NOT use warm water! An old trick I have used in the past to prevent color bleeding is to soak the garment in ice cold water with salt. It will help set the dyes and stop any transfer. I haven’t done it with this dress yet but I may before washing it for the first time.

If you are asking where to buy Glamour Bunny, the answer is simple. You can purchase directly from their site with reasonable international rates or head over to JBR Clothing as well. They will be stocking many more styles in the near future, we are all waiting on their most popular styles to be restocked. I am anxiously awaiting the Dita in navy and Audrey in royal blue.

Check out the full line of Glamour Bunny which include dresses, separates, handbags and jewelry. Stay tuned for more product reviews coming very soon!

April Showers Brings May Flowers!

When I first discovered Hell Bunny, I was immediately drawn to the May Day dress in blue floral. Luckily for me, JBR Clothing had just taken on this line of clothing so I made sure to put in my request for this beauty. It sold out almost immediately, the May Day is a stunning number perfect for summer!

Available in SM to 4XL, Blue or Black Floral Print – MSRP $74USD

Becoming more and more familiar with Hell Bunny sizing, the May Day definitely fits true to size since there is no elastic back panel like their other halter dresses. I went with a Medium and it fits perfectly in the bust (36) and waist (29). The lovely floral print is made from stretch cotton, but do not be fooled by the name…there is minimal stretch in this material. The May Day features a soft sweetheart neckline with halter straps and matching belt.

Unlike most Hell Bunny swing dresses, the May Day looks fabulous sans petticoat. I much prefer the Olivie and Vanda dresses with a full petticoat to complete the look but the May Day stands alone without a doubt. The matching belt features small grommets and the side loops help keep it perfectly in place. Who doesn’t like to show off their cinched in waist?

As I mentioned earlier, there was no need to alter this dress at all. The length was perfect, even though I am only 5ft 4iches. You can dress it up with a pair of kitten heels or go for a casual day look with ballet flats. I can definitely say this is one outfit I will be wearing to work this summer, paired with a cute button up white cardigan.

My obsession with this brand of clothing is only growing stronger and stronger with every fabulous purchase. There has not been one dress that I haven’t loved and the fit is always spot on. Not having to pay for costly alterations is always a huge bonus! Which dress should I try next ladies?

Hi There Cutiepie…

In 2008, Dixiefried became a part of the Pinup Girl Clothing brand family and was officially relaunched. Creator, Melanie Komenkul based her designs on the Glamour of Old Hollywood with Starlets like Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Spohia Loren, and Rita Hayworth. Her timeless designs and impeccable workmanship have stood the test of time…Micheline Pitt swears by her Dixiefried clothing that has held up for over 10 years of constant wear.

I had lusted over the sold out Cutiepie dress in Black with Black & White dots for what seemed like an eternity. Luckily for me, my girlfriend had found one at a local retailer but it did not fit her. Her loss was definitely my gain in this case.

Available in sizes XS – 2x;  MSRP $76USD

I was completely surprised when the Medium fit so perfectly because the size chart seemed to lean on the small side. My measurements are Bust 36, Waist 29, Hips 41-42. The Medium is supposed to fit up to Bust 36.5, Waist 28.5, Hips 39 and they recommends sizing up if your are in between. Made from stretch sateen…do not let the name fool you, there is minimal stretch in this material. You will definitely find the fabric to be thick and quite forgiving while holding you in all the right areas.

The Cutiepie is a nice twist on the classic little black dress with the contrasting polka dot trim and sash belt. The halter straps provide ample room for a variety of bust sizes and the belt can be tied in however you wish since there are no belt loops in the waist area. The structure is incredible for such a simple style of dress with a very reasonable price point.

This is one dress you will not want to pass up. I find the Cutiepie works well even on those days you are not feeling the wiggle style due to body issues. The material is quite slimming and conceals those trouble areas even without shapewear. The halter ties allow you control the amount of cleavage exposure depending on the setting. I love to wear the sash off to the side in a cute little bow as shown. If you prefer a clean look, tie it from the back.

Although the Cutiepie is sold out, PUG has slated it to be restocked in the next couple months. Add yourself to the waitlist as I have a feeling these are going to sell out again very fast! Definitely double check the sizing on the new batch, there is a chance they may do a size regrade. Like the original Dixiefried designs, you will be wearing this beauty for decades to come!

Oh Beverly! *Wardrobe Staples*

One of my first purchases from Heartbreaker Fashion was the Beverly in peacock blue. The color grabbed my attention immediately so I did not hesitate to hit the “buy” button on the spot.

Available in XS to 2x in a multitude of colors and prints – MSRP $104USD.

The Beverly dress is a classic vintage inspired swing dress, perfect for the more conservative occasions. The round collar features a adorable little tie along with a back tie to cinch in your waist.  The Heartbreaker size chart is spot on for this dress. I went with a Medium (36, 29, 41) and it fits wonderfully, no need for any alterations. I seriously love this dress because it’s perfect for the days I’m feeling too self conscious for something fitted but not wanting to hide behind baggy clothes. It is truly a happy alternative being so utterly comfortable and flattering.

Made from 100% Cotton, the Dimensions material has an ultra rich feeling and thickness. The beautiful texture and sheen will stand out from any plain dress you will ever find. At 5ft-4inches, the Beverly falls at a perfect length just below my knees. There was no need to hem the skirt in this case.

Dress it up with a pair of babydoll heels or a cute pair of flats. I personally prefer the Beverly without a petticoat but some may want a more flared circle skirt look. I would not recommend a full petticoat, a modest flare would work best.

The Beverly is definitely one of those dresses that you will want to own in many prints and colors because one is just not enough. I am anxiously awaiting to see the new colorways being released this spring/summer in order to add another to my collection. Sadly the peacock blue was a limited edition but do not despair, there is a Beverly out there that will fit you perfectly!
