IMG_5655It has been some time since I last wore Heart of Haute, but their sizing is fairly consistent with the size charts. Seeing as my bust (36″) is a size medium but my waist (26-27″) is a size small, I always have to take a chance with sizing down to a Small otherwise I’d be swimming in the waist. Now some of you might be wondering why you don’t see the Mercedes Dress in Cinderella Blue on the Heart of Haute website? That’s due to the fact it was a custom order which they indeed offer for no extra charge…isn’t that incredible?!? Seeing as this was being special order, I had to wait patiently (7-10 days) for my dress to be made and shipped. This is also true for many of their in house designs simply because they keep a very limited inventory on hand and will make your item once the order is received. If you’re in a rush, I would recommend contacting them before placing an order. Once my Mercedes Dress arrived, it was like fairy tales due to come true as the Cinderella blue fabric was truly ethereal with its sparkling damask print. Just like it’s big sister the Monique Dress, the bust does run snug and I would highly recommend sizing up if you are full-bosomed. I am glad to have chosen the size small as the waist fit beautifully and the shoulders were spot on as well. Although the bust was a bit snug, I didn’t find it uncomfortably so and it loosened with wear. The Mercedes features a fully lined modest boat neck bodice, fitted waist, full circle skirt, matching slide belt and back zipper closure. At 5′-4″ tall, the skirt falls a couple inches below the knees.

IMG_5643 IMG_5671The Mercedes Dress has truly done her big sister Monique proud, the full circle skirt really makes her the belle of the ball! The shimmery damask fabric is striking and very evocative of the noble Cinderella. Initially I thought the damask print was a bit too elegant to be versatile but those reservations quickly subsided once I saw how delightful it was simply spending an afternoon at the park.  The blue Cinderella print truly stole my heart, it’s magnificence is absolutely breathtaking. The longer hemline is very reminiscent of the timeless 1950s styles and splendid for twirling like a princess. If I had to choose which styles I prefer between the Monique and the Mercedes, I would definitely favor Mercedes simply because the full circle skirt makes it perfection. Normally I shy away from slide belts as they tend to loosen while wearing but the damask fabric seems to hold it snugly in place.

For those of us that don’t quite fit in the glass slipper, it’s highly suggested to pair the Mercedes Dress with some silver strappy sandals to accentuate the lovely shimmer in the damask print. To complete the ensemle, I added come silver confetti earrings and matching bangle. The fullness of the circle skirt drapes beautifully, there’s no need for a petticoat but it is definitely an option if you prefer more volume.

IMG_5686 IMG_5688Even if you don’t believe in fairy tales, I can say without reservation that the Mercedes Dress in Cinderella blue will bring out your inner princess. Luckily for all of us, it is also available in a variety of prints and colours as one of the new signature styles by Heart of Haute.
