I have been eyeing the Heart of Haute Ella Tops forever and finally decided it was time to give them a whirl. Seeing at I am a sucker for the colour green and absolutely love fun Atomic prints, I went with the Ella Top in Green Chemistry.

As we all know, finding the right size with button down style blouses is essential to avoid the dreaded pulling effect when it’s too snug across the bust. Since my bust measurement (36”) falls within their size medium but my waist (27”) is a size small, I was debating which would be the best choice. Since the Ella Top didn’t look overly fitted, I took the risk and ordered a size Small. Thankfully my instincts were right and the fit was spot on, with ample room in the bust allowing the buttons to lie perfectly flat. This particular style appears to be cut rather generously all over, there was ample room in the waist as well so if you’re in between sizes…I think you could safely size down. The Ella Top features high collar with a charming necktie, a button down front, sleeveless, and fitted silhouette.
The Ella Top is known as a customer favorite and I have to agree that it’s one of those pieces that truly merits being labelled a wardrobe staple. With such a classic vintage design, it’s not only super stylish but so comfortable as well. I really liked that the waist is cut a little more generously allowing for ease in movement and not having to be self-conscious of what I look like sitting down all day at a desk. Normally I avoid anything with a high neckline just because it tends to swallow me up with a petite frame but the Ella Top was just the right amount of cuteness with the necktie to balance everything out. An added benefit with this classic design is that it can be worn either tucked in or out, both look equally as delightful. The green Atomic print is even more fabulous in person; both very eye catching and the perfect shade of lime green that doesn’t overwhelm. Luckily, the Ella Top is available in a wide variety of colours and prints if this particular combination isn’t quite your fancy.
With versatile separates like the Ella Top, styling can be limitless by using what is already in your closet. Choosing a classic office look, I paired it with my basic black pencil skirt (which I’ve had for probably 10 years), black round toe pump and my signature red cat eye glasses. For a more casual look, switch it up with a pair of high waist capri or cigarette pants and ballet flats. Adding some chunky plastic bracelets would seriously tie everything together beautifully.
It’s so easy to instinctively gravitate towards all the gorgeous dresses that we see but they are quite limiting in comparison to versatile separates. These wardrobe staples are often underrated and go unnoticed until we actually experience how incredible they truly are. The Ella Top by Heart of Haute is one of such hidden gems sure to please anyone who discovers the limitless potential of mixing and matching within their existing collection.
