Fashionable Finds for Less

There is something to be said about being a budget savvy shopper since we all know quality made dresses do not come cheap. It is not too often that I will pay full price for any vintage reproduction clothing simply because I am always trying to make my heard earner dollar stretch as far as possible. Without a shadow of a doubt, the best time to score the maximum savings is during the designers’ end of the season blow out sales. This is where your patience will most definitely be rewarded, often finding that amazing dress for 50-75% off. For months I lusted over the adorable Nesting Doll Dress by Tatyana but I held out for one of their epic end of season sales to purchase it at a fraction of the cost.

Available in sizes XS-4X ~ MSRP $130USD

IMG_7791It is no mystery that the sizing of Tatyana clothing is known to be inconsistent and every design runs differently. Often times we simply have to rely on reviews and customer feedback in our super helpful online forums to determine sizing. Based on my measurements (bust 36”, waist 27”) I was in between the Small and Medium according to the size charts but based on general consensus, the Nesting Dolls Dress was running big. Ordering a size Small was exactly on point for me, the fit was absolutely perfect right out of the packaging. The adjustable straps are a lifesaver for all short torso gals like me; it’s the best feature that a designer can add for next to nothing and saves the headache of costly alterations. The Nesting Dolls Dress features a classic scoop neck front and back with adjustable spaghetti straps, circle skirt and back zipper closure. The adorable novelty print Russian nesting dolls are printed on a nice lightweight cotton fabric. At 5’-4” tall, the skirt falls a few inches below the knees.

IMG_7803 IMG_7805One biggest hits of the summer from Tatyana was the release of the fabulous Russian Nesting Dolls print. I personally love the bright colour combinations of the green, yellow, pink and teal on a crisp white background. The lightweight cotton makes it perfect for those hot summer days and is especially great as a swimsuit cover up when you are headed to the beach. That being said, I am thankful to have purchased the Nesting Dolls Dress on sale as I feel the regular price is a little pricey for this particular design and fabric. That doesn’t make me adore the Nesting Dolls Dress any less; I honestly live in these classic cotton styles all summer long. They are perfect for those of us who are always on the go and versatile for various occasions.

IMG_7807It is no secret that I always gravitate to bright colour prints…you will be hard pressed to find any black in my wardrobe (no joke). Needless to say, accessorizing with bold colours is so much fun! The Nesting Dolls Dress has endless possibilities; you can create a multitude of unique ensembles just by changing accessories. As an easy and quick summer look, I paired these cuties with yellow & green bangles, a matching green belt and B.A.I.T Jenny heels. The gathered circle skirt gives a nice amount of volume without a petticoat, which is not exactly ideal on those really hot summer days.

IMG_7796 IMG_7794Sometimes holding out for sales can be a bit of a gamble since your size might sell out before the time comes but if you’re willing to take the risk…the reward is saving your hard earned pennies. Luckily for all of you, the Tatyana Nesting Dolls Dress was restocked once again this season if you missed out the first time. Something tells me, if you sign up for their newsletter…you are likely to be the first to know when they have another sitewide 50% sale! 🙂

Such a pretty dress! I’m actually rather sad because I went to buy it during the sale and just missed out on the last one in my size 😦
