The pinup community is full of fabulous fashionistas that are always looking to swap out pretties in their closet for coveted items on their current wishlist. Did you ever think that a dress sitting in your collection going on worn might be the magic ticket to acquiring that magnificent treasure without costing you a dime? That’s where wonderful Facebook groups like the PUG Swap & Sell come in handy to help facilitate trades among like minded ladies who are looking to refresh their wardrobes. One fateful night, I happened upon a member offering the Pinup Girl Clothing Lydia Dress in Rose Border Print in search of the Erin in plum which was currently sitting idly in my collection. It was as if the stars aligned in that very moment…I finally got my hands on the dress that had eluded me for ages and made another gals dreams come true as well!
Available in sizes XS-4X ~ MSRP $142USD
Seeing as I already own the Lydia Dress in Mermaid print, I knew very well that the size Small would fit me wonderfully. The PUG size chart for this particular style is spot on, but the bust does run rather snugly. If you are in between sizes for the bust…I highly recommend going up to the next size to keep the tatas safely in place. It was if the postal service knew how excited I was to get this beauty and decided to make me wait an extra long time but she did arrive safely 2.5 weeks later. With all the anticipation, the Lydia Dress in Rose Border Print was even more breathtakingly beautiful in person! The Lydia Dress features a uniquely gathered twist bust in crisp white, back criss-cross adjustable straps, full gathered swing skirt, thin contrasting belt, and back zipper closure. The delightful blooming red roses are complimented magnificently by the bright blue inverted triangles. At 5′-4″ tall, the skirt falls a few inches below the knees.
There is no denying that the Lydia Dress in Rose Border Print is the epitome of captivating summer’s beauty! I cannot tell you how long I wanted this particular dress as she seemed to always elude me when sales came along, sadly sold out in my particular size. Don’t get me wrong, the Mermaid print is just as spectacular and they truly feel like two very different dresses from one another. We all know that I am a sucker for roses and the gorgeous blooms are very reminiscent of the prints used in the 1950’s. I must not be the first to say that we are thankful that PUG chose not to make this as a halter strap design since they are always so uncomfortable for most ladies with ample bosoms. The criss-cross back really adds to the design wonderfully and thankful that they are fully adjustable for us petite ladies. When I first saw the Lydia Dress in Rose Border Print, I could not help think it’s truly magical and meant to be worn to lavish summer tea parties. Although many of us do not partake in tea time, the Lydia is perfect for outdoor weddings, baby/wedding showers, work, and endless excuses to gallivant in such a delightful dress.
From the moment the Lydia Dress in Rose Border Print arrived, I knew it would look fabulous with a pair of vintage crochet gloves that once belonged to my mother-in-law. When she found out how much I adore vintage, she gifted me a small pile of gloves from her younger years. I couldn’t have been more thrilled to finally have an outfit to wear these delicate white gloves. To continue with such a summery ensemble, I paired it with some cute white espadrilles from Payless and added a fluffy Hell Bunny Petticoat for extra oomph to showcase the gorgeous border print.
If you have gorgeous frocks sitting unworn in your closet, you should definitely take advantage of re-homing them and finding those most wanted items on your wishlist. PUG second hand clothing is always in high demand and sure to make another fashionistas wardrobe that much brighter. The Lydia Dress in Border Print Rose is going to be one that I treasure for some time to come but I will happily re-home her when that faithful time comes.
