A Kitschy Christmas

It is mind boggling to think Christmas is less than a week away, where did the year go? Whether you celebrate the holidays surrounded by large families or a few of your closest loved ones, tis’ the season to cherish those special moments together. The tree is up, presents wrapped, lots of white fluffy snow on the ground, classic festive melodies fill the air, and now it is time to plan our holiday outfits! Of course, no retro Christmas would be complete without lots of vintage kitsch themed decor. Mix that with a little pinup and you will be looking splendid in the Limited Edition Kitschy Christmas Novelty Print Circle Skirt by The Oblong Box Shop.

Available in sizes S-3x ~ MSRP $120.00

img_88162We are no strangers to the fabulousness and originality of The Oblong Box Shop novelty circle skirts. Each season we can count on spectacular new themes and designs to capture our hearts. This holiday season, The Oblong Box Shop went to Grandma’s house for a visit and brought back oodles of vintage charm with the Kitschy Christmas Novelty Print Circle Skirt. Who doesn’t remember the tacky-cute ceramic light up trees and ornaments that looked like they had been around since the 1950’s? We probably never realized how those simple festive traditions would be cherished years later when those loved ones are no longer with us.

img_8809 img_8778The Oblong Box Shop circle skirts are made from 4 yards of 100% Polyester Fabric, known to showcase the vibrant novelty prints beautifully and prevent wrinkling. Since there is no stretch, make sure to follow the size charts carefully and you can easily move the button on the waistband if you need it to fit a little smaller. I opted to go with a size Medium this time with my 28″ waist and simply adjusted the button. All sizes measure 26″ in length and come with a very handy hidden right side pocket.

img_8789 img_8807What I love the most is the array of colours in the kitschy Christmas print allowing one to create a multitude of looks to suit their personal style. It was really hard to choose what ensemble to showcase as I spent a solid half hour mixing and matching with various tops in my wardrobe. In the end, I felt the mustard cropped cardigan paired with the Erstwilder Gingerbread Man brooch and teal belt captured the kitschy Christmas spirit wonderfully. Plus it would work well for our more casual family gathering.

img_8784 img_8812The Kitschy Christmas Novelty Print Circle Skirt brings us back in time with loved ones gathering for the holidays’ at Grandma’s house and unbeknownst to them creating memories to cherish for years to come. Now we can bring back old traditions to reminiscence with the new generations. Been playing catch up on blog reading….just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas and tell you how much I always appreciate and love reading your blogs.

  3. What a superb skirt! Very festive.

  4. I love how you paired this with the yellow cardi and shoes (yellow and mustard seem to be my newest favourite colours for clothing and accessories!) Hope to grab this skirt before they’re all gone, and I’ll also make sure to get a M, since I was vain when I got a Halloween skirt in a S, and shapewear is required for it to fit lol

    • I am a HUGE fan of mustard, it’s a great shade that lends very well to genuine vintage clothing. Yes, my puffer fish skirt is currently too small sadly and I love that they now add an extra inch on the waistband to adjust the button 🙂

Yeah, I keep meaning to move the button over, but with a lot of my clothing, I procrastinate with mending or having them taken to a tailor to be properly altered!
