Glamour Bunny’s Big Sister Is the Epitome of Classic Elegance

One of my favorite places to shop for Glamour Bunny clothing is their Ebay Store, which is full of incredible bargains on end of the line designs. This past summer, I scored one of my favorite dresses in their 2013 Collection for a steal and quickly scooped up a few more before they sold out. To my surprise, Gerry (creator of Glamour Bunny) slipped in an extra special surprise from her new Gerry Roxby Collection; The Harriet in Mauve.

Available in sizes XS-XXL, in Mauve & Navy ~ MSRP £96.00

IMG_1772As the Gerry Roxby Collection is the big sister to Glamour Bunny, all sizing seems to be consistent throughout. Based on the size chart, I fall squarely into the Medium (36-28-40). The Harriet has a true 1940’s design with the structured satin shoulders with long sleeves and fitted high waist skirt. Initially I thought this style wouldn’t suit me well but I was blown away once I tried it on with full hair and makeup. Since I have a short torso and narrow shoulders, the Harriet is too wide in the shoulders and the arms are a little long. It will require some alterations to get a perfect fit for me, but those with normal to broad shoulders will have a great fit with the Harriet right off the rack.

IMG_1774The Harriet is perfect for those cold winter months. The long sleeves with modest hemline make it work appropriate as well. Those who love the 1940’s era of fashion will be swooning over the attention to detail and figure flattering construction. The wiggle skirt is rather formfitting and shapewear is highly recommended. I paired mine with the Rago 1294 and it was a perfect match. The mauve is such a warm complimentary shade for a variety of skin tones.

IMG_1777Accessorizing the Harriet is quite simple; pair it with your favorite round toe pumps and an elegant simple necklace to complete the look. Less is more with the 1940’s styling. A fabulous pair of retro seamed stockings in nude with contrasting black would knock it out of the park!

IMG_1775The Gerry Roxby collection is truly the epitome of classic elegance and takes vintage fashion to the next level. I have had my eye on the Jessica (named after Jessica Rabbit, a given once you see it) in teal since the sneak peak was released a few months ago. Hopefully she will be mine very soon, I’ve been stalking their Ebay store nonstop!

There’s A Little Bit of Joan In All Of Us

Even if you are not a fan of the show Mad Men, there is no mistaking the classic sex appeal of Joan’s character played by Christina Hendricks. Joan’s wardrobe is infamous for its curve hugging bold solid colors while maintaining a modest bust line perfect for the office. I could only dream to own them all as they are the true epitome of classic 60’s vintage. Inspired by Joan’s fabulous style, Glamour Bunny designed a dress truly embodying it’s muse. As soon as I saw previews of the Joan Dress in Royal Blue, I went straight to Rockabilliy Pinup to reserve mine!

Available in sizes XS to XL in Royal Blue, Red, and Black – MSRP £94.50

One thing is for certain, Glamour Bunny has very consistent sizing throughout their entire line. The Joan dress is now the fourth piece in my collection, all in size Medium. Although my hips fall in the Large size range, I have no trouble wearing the size Medium with ease. The Joan Dress features a modest boat-neck collar with a detachable bow (which I forgot to wear in the photos, sorry) and three quarter length sleeves. Designed to hug your curves, the material is made from a comfortable soft stretch cotton. At 5ft 4 inches tall, the skirt falls perfectly a few inches below the knee. The Royal Blue is even more breathtaking in person, sure to turn heads everywhere you go!

As most of you know, blogging is a personal pass time during my off hours but my day job is at the office where I wear most of my pretty dresses. The Joan is definitely work appropriate as it commands respect, while maintaining a classic elegance. The quality of the fabric perfect to conceal your favorite shapewear; I paired mine with the Rago 6201 High Waist Leg Shaper. Glamour Bunny is known for their high quality designs and fabulous fit for women with curves. Every piece I own fits like a glove right off the rack and requires zero alterations.

The classic elegance of the Joan dress requires very minimal accessories. Pair it with your favorite pumps and you’re done! If you choose not to wear the detachable bow, a vintage brooch would be a perfect touch to add timeless refinement like Joan on Mad Men.

I truly hope more vintage repro designers take inspiration from Joan’s character as her style is the epitome of sophistication of the era. Glamour Bunny never disappoints!

Stay tuned…I just snagged the Red Shirt Dress (seen worn by Dita Von Teese) on Ebay for a steal! Review coming soon…
